Hi. E7 is his favourite chord - goes to it so often - with the trem, it is THE CCR sound. He favours it in Std E tuning, (BonaB, GR, etc) and uses D tuning to get to it (everybody else, sort out your backing to it) in most favourite songs PM, BNR, FS. Love CCR and Fogerty's songs. (Kim, Aust)

The main riff....the first few bars remind me of Stranglehold, by Ted Nugent.

This is great stuff … once you learn the CAGED system it makes your solos have a purpose and more melodic … Landing on the 3rd of each chord is always a good choice … and once you get this concept of all the chord tones being right under your fingers , it works for any key

Definitely one of the greatest riffs ever. My favorite song Joe wrote with the Eagles is Pretty Maids in a row, love everything he does in that song.
